Web Chat

Standard+

What it does

Web Chat adds a small chat bubble to your motel website so guests can ask questions and get help without picking up the phone. Guests type a message, and your staff receives it in the messaging dashboard and can reply in real time. No account or login is required for guests.

Prerequisites

How to enable

  1. Log in to the staff dashboard.
  2. Go to Settings > Messaging and confirm Web Chat is toggled on.
  3. Copy the embed code snippet from the settings page.
  4. Paste the snippet before the closing </body> tag on your website pages.
  5. Save and publish your website changes.

The chat bubble appears immediately in the bottom-right corner.

How to configure

Multi-property

If you operate more than one property, make sure the embed snippet includes your property ID. Your platform administrator can provide the exact snippet for each property.

Chat availability

Guests can send messages at any time. If no staff member is available, the message is saved and appears in your dashboard when you next log in.

Staff reply interface

All conversations are under Messaging > Conversations, filtered by "Web Chat." Click any conversation to see the thread and reply.

How to verify it's working

  1. Open your motel website in an incognito window.
  2. Look for the chat bubble in the bottom-right corner.
  3. Send a test message like "Do you have rooms available this weekend?"
  4. Log in to the staff dashboard and check Messaging > Conversations.
  5. Your test message should appear within seconds.
  6. Reply from the dashboard and confirm it appears in the chat window.

Common questions

Does the guest need an account?

No. The chat is completely anonymous to start. If a guest provides their details, staff can create a guest profile from the conversation.

What if a guest closes the browser before staff replies?

The conversation is saved. When the guest returns, the chat widget remembers their session and shows the full history including any replies.

Can I use web chat with AI auto-responses?

Yes. If AI auto-responses are enabled, the system will answer common questions automatically. Staff can take over any conversation at any time.
